How the stars celebrate

Diwali is a joyful time when Bollywood actors put their work aside to celebrate with family. Abdulla Mahmood finds out what the stars are up to this festival.

Diwali is widely known as the festival of lights and is a popular festival in India. It's celebrated by many Indians across the country and abroad. It's also a time when some of Bollywood's stars put aside their hectic schedules to enjoy the occasion with sweets, fireworks and time with their family. e+ fills you in on what Bollywood stars have planned for Diwali.

Kangana Ranaut

Diwali plans I intend to celebrate Diwali with my sister and parents. It will be a quiet and a family affair. Definitely we will perform puja, light up the house with lamps and decorate the house. Given an option I would like to do the rangolis in my house.

Favourite sweet I am not particular about any sweet and usually taste whatever sweets are there at home

Favourite firecracker I don't burst crackers but I enjoy watching the beautiful fireworks in the sky

Priyanka Chopra

Diwali plans It's always a great feeling to celebrate Diwali with my parents and siblings. Thankfully this year I don't have any movie releases scheduled for Diwali so I can relax and enjoy the festival.

Favourite sweet Kadhie is my favourite sweet. I also enjoy many of the other types of sweets prepared at home. I don't keep count of my calorie intake on this day.

Favourite firecracker I enjoy lighting up lamps in my house, while brother is often the one who will burst crackers.

Bipasha Basu

Diwali plans Diwali is always an occasion that I look forward to and this year is no different. As usual, we will have celebrations at my home. All my close relatives and friends, including John Abraham, will be there. We usually prefer to keep it a simple, traditional and close-knit gathering for close friends and family. Diwali is a heartwarming festival for me.

Favourite sweet I indulge in all sorts of delicacies from rasmalais to pedas without worrying too much about my figure.

Favourite firecracker I make it a point to light up my house with diyas (lamps) and candles but I avoid crackers, since it can lead to unnecessary noise pollution.

Shahid Kapur

Diwali plans Diwali is a joyous festival. I plan to spend time with my family and friends. The day will begin by spending time with my family members. I would really like to commemorate this time with my father, Pankaj Kapur. In the evening, I intend to catch up with my friends and have a good time with them.

Favourite sweet When I was younger, I would eat all sort of sweets such as ladoos, burfis and pedas. I don't eat so many anymore, but I still enjoy nibbling on a few of them.

Favourite firecracker I don't burst crackers anymore, but I have had my fair share of fun as
a child.

Karan Johar

Diwali plans I plan to spend Diwali with my mom and to pray with her. I usually dedicate the entire day to my mom, but later on I visit a few close family members and friends.

Favourite sweet My mom and I are on a strict diet, so we won't be indulging in any sweets this year.

Favourite firecracker I don't play with firecrackers, but my mom will definitely light up a few lamps around the house.

Rani Mukherjee

Diwali plans Diwali has always been a special festival for me and an occasion for the family to be together. I love to give gifts to my parents on this occasion. The rituals are usually carried out according to Bengali traditions. I plan to wear a traditional sari for the occasion.

Favourite sweet I enjoy Bengali sweets such as rosgullas.

Favourite firecracker I like to light up lamps, but I generally tend to play with safer crackers such as the burning flower pot.

Akshay Kumar

Diwali plans I prefer to have a get-together at my place for close friends and relatives. Hopefully, I'll be able to host a Diwali party this year. The idea behind Diwali is to have a good time and spend it with your loved ones.

Favourite sweet I don't normally have too many sweets. On Diwali, I do enjoy indulging in special sweets made for the occasion.

Favourite firecracker I don't burst any firecrackers, because I believe it's harmful to
the environment.

Riteish Deshmukh

Diwali plans I've missed quite a few Diwalis over the past years due to my hectic filming schedule. My first priority is
to ensure that I'm in Mumbai during this festive occasion so I can carry out all the rituals with my family. We invite family and friends to our home. Sometimes we play cards as well.

Favourite sweet I enjoy gajar ka halwa (carrot sweet).

Favourite firecracker I used to enjoy firecrackers and have fond memories of bursting crackers in my village.
